What is the difference between Clear Aligners and traditional metal braces? There are pros and cons to each. In general, Clear Aligner patients experience:
- Less oral discomfort and mouth sores due to the lack of sharp metal wires
- Less risk of cavities or plaque buildup as Clear Aligners can be removed for eating and cleaning
- Better self-confidence because Clear Aligners are, you guessed it, CLEAR!
The Process
Clear Aligners is a type of orthodontic treatment that uses clear trays to gradually shift teeth into their desired position. Our dentists will begin your consultation with a 3D scan of your teeth in their starting position as well as high-quality photographs. We will take note of the changes that you desire which can include closing gaps, straightening crooked teeth, or bringing them into better alignment. At your next visit, we will show you a video demonstration as well as a 3D model of your teeth after the Clear Aligner treatment is finished. At this appointment, you will know the expected duration of treatment and the number of trays required to achieve the result you want.
Once treatment begins, you will need to wear the Clear Aligners 20-22 hours per day in order to see results, only removing them while eating, cleaning, or for important moments such as a presentation. Every few weeks you will switch to the next set of trays, each one bringing you closer to the final result.
